**Job Description Summary:**

The Senior Software Engineer designs, develops, troubleshoots, debugs, and sets the direction for the design and implementation of software features/functionality/enhancements, correction of defects, and/or the creation of new products.

Develops software tools including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools.

Determines software’s compatibility with hardware and/or influences software's design in relation to hardware.

The Senior Software Engineer designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for new products, new features and software enhancements.

Rocket Application Modernization products is a low code solution for creating REST-based Application Modernization products that expose the data and functionality in legacy systems.

Using these Application Modernization products with web and mobile interfaces and business-to-business integrations enables modernization of legacy systems without disruption.

Modernizing using Rocket Application Modernization products is an on-going, iterative process that leverages screen-based applications and back-end systems such as data sources and REST services to quickly address changing business needs.

You will be expected to work in a fast-paced environment where you will bring your deep technical expertise to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**

+ Mastery of software systems
+ Proficient at complex programming, exercising independence and discretion while working independently

or as part of a team

+ May lead a team on short or long-term projects as needed
+ Act as the technical subject matter expert for a product domain and may act as the technical leader within a team
+ Works independently to create new products, new features, implement software enhancements, correct defects.
+ Set the direction for design and implementation of software features/functionality, correction of defects

and/or creation of new products

+ Documents and communicates on complex technical topics outside the immediate development team
+ May interact with customer users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications
+ History of success working within a team environment

**Required Qualifications/Experience**

+ Typically requires a minimum of 10+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 8 years and a Master’s degree

+ Excellent designing and coding skills
+ Object Oriented analysis and design using common design patterns.
+ Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
+ Ability to write clean, concise, understandable code
+ Proven working experience in Java development
+ Multithreading, memory management in code, performance aspects
+ Expert in popular Java frameworks like Spring Boot and Spring MVC
+ Experience with front-end development using React
+ Experience with popular web servers like Apache Tomcat
+ Experience in JMS, JSON documents
+ Experience with SQL Databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server) including JDBC
+ Experience with Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems
+ Proficient understanding and experience of code versioning tools, such as Git
+ Experience with test-driven development using Junit, Mockito
+ Some experience in / or a willingness to learn new technologies e.g. Docker, Kubernetes
+ Fluency in English language, both written and spoken excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to deal professionally and collaboratively with all levels of the organization and across geographies

**Additional Skills/Experience**

+ Agile development methodologies
+ Outstanding quality with few bugs in generated code.
+ Experience developing cloud native applications for AWS, Azure, or GCP
+ Experience with fully Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment e.g. Jenkins
